Puerto Escondido is home to the Mexican Pipeline on the world famous Zicatela Beach which has been a mecca for surfers who travel from all over the world. For the past few years, ESPN has made Puerto Escondido the home for the surfing portion of their X-Games competition. International surf competitions occur throughout the year including the World Masters Championship which is usually in the summer months June, July or August and again the Fiestas do Noviembre in November.
Coinciding with the Fiestas de November is the International Sport Fishing competition. Puerto Escondido features fishing for sailfish, marlin, tuna and Dorado (Mahi-Mahi/Dolphinfish). Many fishing excursions include the chance to see migrating humpback and gray whales as well as different dolphin species such as the bottle nose dolphin and spinner dolphins. Another popular break during a fishing trip is stopping to take a swim with the many turtles you’ll find in this spot of the Pacific Ocean.

In Puerto Escondido, the definition of a resort is a little different. All lnclusive resorts don’t exist here and our idea of a resort is a private getawat with staff that includes a private chef and car. It’s located 60 miles north of Huatulco and 220 miles south of Acapulco on the Ocean of the Pacific Coast of Mexico in the state of Oaxaca.
