Tabasco
The main cities in the State of Tabasco in Mexico are Villahermosa and Teapa. Tabasco features a rich history dating back to the Spanish and European colonial expeditions of the 1500’s and is a tourist attraction for the Mayan ruins of Colmacalco and Olmec ruins of La Venta. Many tourists stay in Villahermosa while visiting the Mayan Palenque ruins in the neighboring state of Chiapas.

Tabasco is located in the south of the country with a long coastline along the Gulf of Mexico. The geography of the state is marked my low lying coastal plains. In addition, Tabasco has the highest rainfall of any state in Mexico and the combination of the geography causes flooding during the heavy seasonal rains.
